Cycle comfortably throughs the ups and downs of forest and mountain paths on your E-BIKE
E-BIKE is an electrically assisted sports bike that packs quite a punch with its excellent accelleration and assist. However since we value your safety above everything we will begin with an explanation of how to operate the bike properly and do a quick test ride. As you embark on your journey you will be amazed by just how powerful this sleek and sporty bike is. Become one with the wind and immerse yourself into the sounds and fragrances of deep outdoors, as you would never be able to do by car. Oasa is located at the bottom of a basin, but with the E-BIKE even the slopes and elevation are quite literally a breeze.
Your expert local guide will take you to all the special spots to escape the mundane
Our main guide Mr. Tagawa, who loves Oasa like no other, will take you to spots not even most of the locals venture to. Tagawa moved to Oasa in 2018 and has explored all its nooks and crannies on his bike, meeting many interesting people in the process. Countryside gets written off easily as "nothing but hills and fields" but therein lies its biggest appeal. Amidst the artificial buildings of cities, constantly bombarded by man-made noises a little escape from the mundane into the welcoming arms of mother nature is nothing short of a blessing. Hop on and enjoy a tour like no other with your expert guide!
Not just a popular tourist spot, Satoyama offers something in each season for the visitors. Sakuras in spring, lush greenery in summer, rich autumn foliage, this is definitely one of the best natural spots for a tour in Hiroshima.
There are indeed quite a few bike tours in Hiroshima, but this tour of Oasa is the only one that will take you through the countryside of northern Hiroshima on an E-BIKE. With little to no traffic there's no need to worry about traffic lights or cars. No exhaut gases, no engine noises, only the chirping of birds and murmuring of the local rivers. Designated as a national natural monument, the "Tengushide Gunraku" consists of hundreds of massive, majestic ancient trees of various shapes. There is also the giant ancient tree on the same mountain, lovingly nicknamed "Mountain Gramps", however even very few locals know about it. It is only on this tour that you can venture deep into the nature and hear the tales about both. The latter half of the tour will lead us to a once-abandoned local brewery where we will hear the story of its ruin and revival and learn a bit about the light and dark sides of life in Oasa deep in the wilderness. By the end of the tour you will become an expert on Oasa and without a doubt you will fall in love with the area. Embark on a fascinating journey with Trip!Cycling Oasa today!
For lunch we will stop at the pride and joy of Oasa, the Ainosato Herb Garden restaurant for a delicious meal using local herbs.
For lunch, we will stop at the local restaurant Ai no Sato. We highly recommend the herbal lunch menu, using locally sourced ingredients and herbs and veggies the restaurant grows itself. The wife of the chef and owner will bring you the menu and gently explain everything you need to know about the respective items on it. The restaurant is located on a small hill, first settled after the WW II. The current owner is the second generation and he himself also moved here from Hiroshima. Their guard dog Ryuu is very friendly and incredibly popular among regulars. Rows of Sakuras in spring, Chamomile fields in summer, chestnut picking in autumn, there's always something to enjoy here that will make it worth revisiting. The restaurant is closed in winter however due to heavy annual snowfall.
Easy to get there! After a mere 60 minute car ride from Hiroshima you will be greeted by the lush greenery of Satoyama.
Oasa is located in the northern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, close to the border of Shimane Prefecture. The shortest route from Hiroshima city is about 60 minutes from Hiroshima Seifushinto IC to Hamada Expressway Oasa IC. If you turn left at the traffic light where you can see the Seven-Eleven convenience store, you will see Kanbikiyama, the symbol of Oasa, in front of you on your right. After about 5 minutes, you will see the shopping center "Wasa-ru". And the building designed after Kanbikiyama, the "O.M.S". The parking lot in front of Wasa-ru is free. If you use the highway bus, it takes about 70 minutes from the Hiroshima Shinkansen exit (highway bus bound for Hamada) to the Oasa IC. The fare is 1670 yen one way. There is a free transfer from Oasa IC to "O.M.S".
