Temma

Temma overlooks a large river that flows through Osaka. It has many sightseeing spots from what's said to be the longest shopping street in Japan, Tenjinbashisuji, to Osaka Temmagu, which houses a god of learning, and the Japan Mint, where Japanese currency is printed. Further, Temma Tenjin Hanjo Tei was open in 2006. This is a tourist spot gaining popularity among men and women of all ages as a new base for western Japanese style rakugo and as the only permanent rakugo dedicated facility. While large offices populate the Umeda area, they have not progressed much into Temma, and Temma Ichiba, with its long-standing history from the Edo period, has a particularly working-class neighborhood atmosphere. With the increase in immigrants, more high-rise apartment complexes have also appeared, making the area a popular place of residence in recent years. Being blessed with good access to water, the land was developed from the Edo period through industrial manufacturing like metals, glass, and textiles. Even inside Osaka Temmangu, stands a monument to the glass manufacturing industry. Here, you can really feel remnants of the past.
