East Osaka is characterized by lots of manufacturing areas. Higashiosaka City has many small to medium sized businesses with technological strength, and is known throughout Japan as the city of production.
A prominent feature of many establishments here is their relation to temples or history. In Higashiosaka City is the memorial museum for Ryotaro Shiba, the author of several famous historical novels. Sports are also popular here, rugby in particular. Higashiosaka city is home to the Hanazono Rugby Stadium.
Known for rugby, Higashiosaka will one of the sites for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Hirakata is home to it's very own amusement park, Hirakata Park, which is the oldest in Japan. It has a pool for summer, illumination for the fall, and ice skating for the winter.
Each line can get you from eastern Osaka to the city within 30 minutes.
You can try out a sumo experience in East Osaka. Take this opportunity and try your hand at Japan's traditional sport, sumo wrestling. Afterwards, enjoy some chanko nabe.
