Learn about the thoughts and prayers that went into the Peace Memorial Park construction almost 75 years ago
Despite being the most famous tourist spot, there are things about the Peace Memorial Park that you will not learn from any guide book, only from a local guide. For example why the Dome was preserved despite pushes for its demolition, the thoughts and goals of the park designer, the hidden prayers behind the cenotaph and museum and much more.
The damage in a 2.5 km radius from the epicenter was immeasurable and horrid. We will take a closer look at some of the remnants.
The bomb was dropped on the city center of Hiroshima and vaporized everything in a 2.5 km radius. The buildings and trees that managed to survive are nowadays known as the remnants. They stand for and commemorate both the tragedy as well as new hope for restoration of Hiroshima post-war. There's a lot to see during this tour, but we will also explore much more than meets the naked eye - from the point of view of a Hiroshima native.
