Along with Tenjin Bridge and Temma Bridge, Naniwa Bridge is one of the "three great bridges of Naniwa." It is approximately 190 meters and stretches over Tosabori River, Nakanoshima Park, and Dojima River. It is also known as Lion Bridge due to the pairs of Aun lion statues that rest on either of its ends. The current Naniwa Bridge, was originally constructed in 1915 spanning Sakaisuji Street, to coincide with the opening of the Sakaisuji Line, Osaka Municipal Railway's third planned track. During that time, Nakanoshima Park was undergoing service, and so the bridge was brought in not only as infrastructure, but also with aesthetics in mind. Later, the city emblem was engraved and lights lost during the war were restored to increase its value. In the vicinity are sightseeing spots like Osaka City Central Public Hall, the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, Nakanoshima Rose Garden as well as main branches of banks and Osaka Exchange, with its impressive retro architectural style. You'll see not only tourists, but office workers on top of lion bridge.
