Namba Walk is an underground shopping area with about 270 stores, ranging from fashion to gourmet to general goods to cafes and more. It is a huge, commercial area that brings in up to 21.177 billion yen in yearly revenue. It is located close to Namba Station, accessible by various lines. As Osaka City provided 53.7% investment from the third sector, it was privatized as a subsidiary of Osaka Metro Co., Ltd. in April 2018 and is managed by the municipal subway. The shopping area is separated into Ichibangai, Nibangai, and Sanbangai, lined with stores from fashion to general goods. There are a few plazas in Namba Walk, where shoppers can rest and which serve as multi-purpose open spaces for emergencies and events like art exhibits, music, and mini waterfronts. During the Showa period, it went by the name of "Niji no Machi," but was changed to Namba Walk. As a remnant of this, it is also referred to "Niji no Machi," Namba Walk. Access is very good, as it is connected to various lines by the metro station as well as to the OCAT bus terminal, which goes to Kansai International Airport and other areas of Japan.
