Den Den Town

Nippombashi's Den Den Town is an area known for the retail of electronics, much like Tokyo's Akihabara. Not just electronics and audio equipment, but carpentry tools, machinery, and computer stores line the streets. It is about a five minute walk away from Ebisucho Station, Nippombashi Station, and Namba Station. In the Edo period, it was a stopover town called Nagaya, but in the Meiji period it grew as a stop for buying books. After the war, a store opened up specializing in personal radio parts and tools. This started the area's development in the retail of electronics. In recent years, maid cafes have also started to make appearances, again similar to Akihabara. Additionally, Nippombashi has an information center that provides a service to help visitors explore the area. So that Sakaisuji could become a pedestrian mall, various stage events, cosplayers, and maid parades take place at the Ebisu entrance intersection. Due to the opening of electronic retailers like Yodobashi Camera in Umeda and Bic Camera in Sennichimae, customers looking for these goods have slowly been on the decline.
