With contributions made by the 21 companies of Mitsui Group and Korean expat Rhee Byung-Chang, the Museum of Oriental Ceramics was opened in 1982, and contains about 6,000 items including 2 national treasures and 13 important cultural properties. It holds a world class collection of pottery and ceramics. Rather than artificial lighting, the second floor makes use of the natural sunlight to allow for a better appreciation of the objects' detailed colors. There are also 3 display cases equipped with 360 degree rotating platforms. Chinese Porcelain can be seen in these. Other than that, detailed descriptions are available through video and various special exhibits are held from time to time. The Tea Salon is an in-house cafe that provides a view of Bara no Komichi and Osaka City Central Public Hall. The drinks are served in Royal Copenhagen cups; enjoy a coffee or tea in this relaxing atmosphere. What's more is that the museum shop has things like art books and postcards of exhibit items for sale. It is easily accessed by way of Naniwabashi Station.
